This is a high-limit switch designed for ovens to prevent the possibility of overheating and causing a fire. This is an authentic OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer. The high-limit switch will stop the oven from working if it is triggered by the oven when reaching a temperature that has been preset by the manufacturer and determined to be unsafe. If the oven stops working, the high-limit switch should be checked and replaced if necessary. The oven should not be used without the high-limit switch working as this is a fire hazard.To start, disconnect the power to the range. Pull the range out to make the back panel accessible. Remove the back panel and locate the high-limit switch. To start, disconnect the two wires from the high-limit switch and remove the switch from the oven. Install the new switch and connect the wires. Replace the back panel and put the oven back in place. Restore the power and test the oven.This high-limit switch is sold as an individual unit; it does not include the screws to secure it. It is designed for use in wall ovens, ranges, and microwave oven combos manufactured by General Electric and Kenmore.
