This is a genuine OEM friction door cable sourced directly from the manufacturer for use in dishwashers. This cable is part of the pulley system used to open and close the dishwasher door. The door cable is attached to the springs that provide the tension to hold the door open and pull it in when the door is closed. With normal wear and tear, the door cable may fray and break, causing the door to slam to the floor when opened rather than remaining taut and in place. If this happens, the part should be replaced. There is a door cable on each side of the dishwasher door; it is good maintenance to replace both simultaneously so that the unbroken cable is a strong as the new one.Before working on the dishwasher, disconnect the power and water source. Pull the dishwasher out about six inches and locate the friction door cable. Remove it and install the new one. Replace the dishwasher. Restore the power and water.
